Pack Up Your Sorrows follows Meg as she learns to live a healthy life with Bipolar Disorder. Through her eyes, viewers will explore different aspects of mood disorders–– how families try to deal with the illness in their midst, the biology of these diseases of the brain, and the effects of traditional and alternative therapies like medication and meditation. Along the way, Meg seeks to understand the role mental illness has played in the lives of authors and historical figures. She also asks some of her heroes what steps we can take as a society to reduce the epidemic of suicide, especially among young people. Viewers will learn, as Meg has, that these illnesses of the brain are not a moral failing or a character weakness, and that treatment options are improving.

NEXT SCREENING: First Congregational Church, Winchester MA 9/25 6:00 pm

A Winchester film screening followed by a panel discussion with Meg Hutchinson will be held Sunday, September 25 from Feature Image 1 6:00pm to 8:45pm. The film tells Meg Hutchinson’s personal story of living with Bipolar illness and features interviews with leading psychologists, neuroscientists and advocates including Dr Kay Redfield Jamison, Dr. Richard Davidson and Kevin Briggs. Released in 2015, the film pierces the silence regarding mental illness and aims to diminish discrimination, promote help-seeking and encourage community conversation.

The screening will be held at the First Congregational Church, 21 Church Street, Winchester, MA. Admission is free for people ages 15 years and older, but tickets are required. For more information and to register, go to
